No More Gods, Only Us
Clouds
floating in from the west,
No chance of rain.
How do I know this?
There
are only three things that are true;
The sun will go cold in another
Billion years;
Hatred will not outlast love;
I cannot change history.
Why do
we look up,
At the sun as it rises, as it sets?
At clouds that are birds, or cathedrals?
At the shape of the wind in our own
Sad hearts?
We all
want to save the world,
Some for only selfish reasons.
Yet the outcome would be the same,
Were it you, or me, or some other
Heart that opens, voice that rises,
Dream that brings hope.
There
would be light where
We feared only darkness would rule.
Someone would walk there again,
Would put tender feet down
On the newly risen grass.
The
signs point to these things,
But we must still slog through
All those false truths,
The wisdom of our ignorance,
That guides us for so long
Down the wrong road.
Ah, sad
heart, do not lose hope!
Clouds do not always bring rain.
Desire does not always bring love.
But clouds, and desire,
May be enough, until that moment
When the
world saves us.

How to Know You Are Going
Somewhere
First, you may feel some anxiety, or outright fear.
This is only natural.
This is just nature's way of letting you know you've stirred the pot.
Second, there will be someone who tries to talk you out of this
"radical step" you are taking. They know you - you'de never do someting
like "this."
Thank them, then keep on going.
Third, you may notice some wind in your hair - this, too, is a natural
aspect of forward motion.
Feels nice, doesn't it?
Then, you may notice a new feeling, a lightness of the heart. This
occurs when you finally let the anchors go, and the sails unfurl.
Now you're moving, friend.
Now you're moving.
In
one gate, out the other. Hey, that's what they're for, isn't it?
